High Availability for AIX Technical Support and Administration
The IBM Certified System Expert - High Availability for AIX - Technical Support and Administration is a highly experienced person, with at least two (2) years experience in the following areas:
- Maintaining and administering HA implementations
- Evaluating the applicability of PowerHA in the environment
- Determining the requirements for a PowerHA implementation including hardware and software design elements, and configuration modes
- Planning an installation, including elimination of single points of failure
- Installing and configuring PowerHA on a system or cluster of systems
- Performing daily administration, cluster status monitoring, problem determination, log analysis, and recovery
Additionally, the IBM Certified System Expert - High Availability for AIX - Technical Support and Administration has extensive AIX and TCP/IP experience, some experience with storage requirements, and works with virtualized components in the PowerHA environment (where applicable).
What must the IBM Certified System Expert - High Availability for AIX - Technical Support and Administration know or be able to do without assistance or supervision?
- Plan and install and configure a basic PowerHA cluster.
- Test and verify cluster validity.
- Add/remove cluster components during cluster operation.
- Monitor for and detect cluster failures and perform simple failovers.
- Create and administer resource groups. Use C-SPOC to manage cluster objects
- Backup, restore and upgrade the cluster and apply cluster fixes.
- Understand cluster topology configuration and IPAT implementation
- Awareness of cluster security considerations.
What must the IBM Certified System Expert - High Availability for AIX - Technical Support and Administration be able to do with minimal assistance/supervision?
- Analyze logs. Evaluate PowerHA applicability in the environment.
- Plan, install and configure advanced clusters (including application monitors).
- Detect and correct cluster synchronization problems.
- Understand requirements for cross-site, LVM, and XD.
- Configure dependencies within the cluster.
- Understand PowerHA interaction with RSC
